Less invasive parotid tumor surgery shows promise in new trial
NCT ID NCT07185542
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study compared two surgical methods for removing non-cancerous parotid gland tumors: a newer, less invasive technique called intracapsular parotidectomy (ICP) and the standard superficial parotidectomy (SP). Researchers wanted to see if ICP could reduce complications like facial nerve damage and improve recovery while still preventing tumor return. The trial involved 120 adults aged 20-65 with confirmed benign tumors.
