New program aims to break the cycle of alcohol problems in families
NCT ID NCT05490589
Summary
This study is testing a parenting skills program for families where at least one parent has an alcohol use disorder. The goal is to see if teaching better parenting and communication skills can help protect children from developing future mental health or substance use problems. The program involves weekly group sessions over 10 weeks where parents watch videos and discuss strategies. Researchers will measure changes in parental stress, child behavior, and the parent's own alcohol use.
