Summary

This study aimed to understand the emotional impact on parents after their child was hospitalized in intensive care for a severe injury. Researchers followed 62 parents for 3 to 6 months after their child left the ICU to measure rates of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. The goal was to gather knowledge about this often-overlooked effect of pediatric trauma to potentially improve future family support.
