New program aims to keep families together and kids safe amid parental addiction

NCT ID NCT04294134

Summary

This study is testing a combined therapy and support program for mothers who are in treatment for substance use and have a young child (from pregnancy up to age 5). The goal is to improve child safety and well-being, strengthen the parent-child bond, and reduce the risk of the child entering foster care. The program provides individual and parent-child therapy, and some families will also get help from a recovery specialist for housing, jobs, and other support services.
