Nature play may ease family stress, study suggests
NCT ID NCT07570498
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether nature-based activities like walking barefoot on grass, playing games, and making music outdoors can help parents and children feel closer and manage emotions better. 100 low-income families participated, with half doing the nature activities and the other half doing nothing special. Researchers measured changes in parent-child relationship quality and children's emotional control using questionnaires.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, low-cost way to help families manage stress and strengthen bonds through nature.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed study with only 100 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The intervention is brief and may not have lasting effects.
