Parents as therapists: new study tackles teen anxiety without involving teens

Summary

This study tests a parent-only treatment called SPACE for teens with anxiety disorders. It compares SPACE to another parent education program. About 108 teens and their parents will participate, using questionnaires and interviews to measure anxiety symptoms and daily functioning. The goal is to see if teaching parents supportive strategies can ease teen anxiety without the teen attending therapy.
