Stitch showdown: which suture keeps belly button hernias away?

NCT ID NCT07156188

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at two kinds of stitches used to repair small belly button hernias (less than 2 cm). One type dissolves over time, while the other stays in the body permanently. Researchers want to see if one leads to fewer hernias coming back or causes fewer problems after surgery. About 900 adults having planned hernia surgery will take part, and they will be checked for up to 2 years after their operation.
