Simple blood test could spot cancer early
NCT ID NCT06842615
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study is testing a new blood test called PanTum Detect to see how well it can find early signs of cancer or pre-cancer. The test looks for certain markers in immune cells. Researchers will compare the blood test results with standard PET/CT scans in 134 adults—half with suspected or confirmed tumors, and half healthy volunteers. The goal is to see if the blood test is accurate enough to be used for early cancer detection.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- PanTum Detect blood test
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this blood test could offer a simpler, less invasive way to screen for multiple types of cancer or pre-cancer at an early stage.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase study (134 people) focused on accuracy, not treatment. The test may not be sensitive or specific enough, and results may not apply to the general population.
