Hospitals test new pancreatitis protocol: shorter stays, better outcomes?
NCT ID NCT04214756
Summary
This study compares how well patients with sudden, severe pancreas inflammation (acute pancreatitis) recover when hospitals follow a specific treatment checklist versus older approaches. Researchers are looking at 500 adult patients treated at Methodist hospitals, checking if the new protocol leads to shorter hospital stays, fewer deaths, and less unnecessary testing. The goal is to see if following standardized guidelines actually helps patients get better faster with fewer complications.
