Summary

This study tested whether one drug (somatostatin) works better than another (octreotide) at preventing serious leaks after pancreas surgery. Researchers enrolled 655 patients who were having pancreas surgery to directly compare these two medications. The goal was to find which drug more effectively reduces this common and dangerous complication.
