Needle vs knife: new study tests less invasive treatment for rare pancreatic tumor

NCT ID NCT05735912

Summary

This study compares two treatments for pancreatic insulinoma, a rare pancreatic tumor that causes low blood sugar. Researchers are testing whether a less invasive procedure using a needle to deliver heat (radiofrequency ablation) is as safe and effective as traditional surgery. The trial involves 60 patients who will be randomly assigned to receive either the needle procedure or surgery, then followed to see which works better with fewer complications.
