New drainage technique aims to stop dangerous leaks after complex pancreas surgery

NCT ID NCT06743516

Summary

This study is testing if placing a temporary external drainage tube after a major pancreas surgery (Whipple procedure) can prevent a serious complication called a pancreatic fistula, which is a leak of digestive fluid. It will compare 100 patients with 'soft' pancreas tissue who receive the drainage tube to those who do not. The goal is to see which method better controls this complication and improves recovery.
