New hope for tough pancreatic cancer: major trial tests drug combo

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a new drug called INCB161734 to standard chemotherapy helps people with advanced pancreatic cancer that has spread and has a specific genetic change (KRAS G12D mutation). The main goal is to see if this combination helps patients live longer and keeps the cancer from growing. About 588 people who haven't had treatment for their spread cancer will be randomly assigned to get either the standard chemo plus the new drug or just the standard chemo.
