Heat therapy could extend life for pancreatic cancer patients

NCT ID NCT07191418

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a heat-based treatment called radiofrequency ablation (RFA) to a standard procedure (ERCP) can help people with advanced pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver live longer. The treatment uses heat to destroy tumor cells and may also help the immune system fight the cancer. The study will include 178 people who are already receiving chemotherapy and have limited liver spread. The goal is to see if this combination improves cancer-specific survival compared to ERCP alone.
