New gel could make cavity fillings Pain-Free for kids
NCT ID NCT07605689
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two ways to remove cavities in children's baby molars: a special gel that softens decay, versus scraping by hand. The goal is to see which method causes less pain and is more acceptable to kids. Twenty-eight healthy children aged 5 to 9 will take part, and their pain will be measured using a simple 0-to-10 scale.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
REMOVE gel (chemo-mechanical caries removal agent)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a less painful way to treat cavities in children, reducing fear and discomfort during dental visits.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 28 children, so results may not apply to all kids or tooth types. The gel may not remove all decay effectively.
