First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested whether a numbing injection called an anterior quadratus lumborum block, given before surgery, can lower pain and the need for strong painkillers after an abdominal hysterectomy. Fifty-six women having surgery for uterine fibroids or other uterine conditions took part. The block was added to standard pain management, and researchers measured pain levels, opioid use, and recovery quality.
