Study tests new drug mixes to ease hernia surgery pain

NCT ID NCT07194694

Summary

This study tested whether adding one of two drugs (dexmedetomidine or ketamine) to a standard numbing injection could provide better and longer-lasting pain relief after hernia repair surgery. It involved 60 adult patients who received one of three different injection mixtures during their operation. Researchers measured patients' pain levels at rest and when coughing for 12 hours after surgery to see which combination worked best.
