First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a specific nerve block (lateral quadratus lumborum block) can reduce pain and the need for strong painkillers during a bile duct imaging procedure called percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC). Fifty-two adults who needed this procedure took part. The goal was to see if adding the nerve block to standard sedation leads to less opioid use, lower pain scores, and faster recovery.
