New study aims to cut opioid use after chest surgery

Summary

This study compares two types of nerve blocks (erector spinae plane block vs. thoracic paravertebral block) to control pain after open chest surgery. The goal is to see which block reduces the need for morphine in the first 24 hours after surgery. About 86 adults aged 18-70 undergoing chest surgery will participate.
