First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 05, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tested two types of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks to control pain after major upper abdominal surgery. Forty adults received either a rectus sheath block or an external oblique intercostal plane block. The goal was to see which block delays the need for rescue pain medication and reduces overall opioid use. Results could help improve recovery and comfort after surgery.
