Magnetic device shows promise for chronic pain relief
NCT ID NCT07199361
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how a magnetic device called pTMS can relieve chronic pain after surgery or injury. Fifty adults with long-term pain will receive magnetic pulses at the pain site for four days. Researchers will measure pain sensitivity and blood markers before and after treatment to understand how the device works. The goal is to improve pain management without relying on drugs.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Peripheral transcutaneous magnetic stimulation (pTMS) device
What this could lead to
If successful, this study could reveal how pTMS reduces pain, leading to better, non-drug pain management for people with chronic post-surgical or post-traumatic pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 50 participants and no control group. Some people may not respond to the treatment, and the results may not apply to everyone with chronic pain.
