New pain block could help rib fracture patients breathe easier

NCT ID NCT05288985

Summary

This study is testing whether a specific pain-blocking technique (using a catheter near the spine) helps patients with multiple broken ribs breathe better compared to standard pain medications alone. Researchers want to see if this approach reduces breathing problems and speeds recovery after chest trauma. The study involves 40 adults with rib fractures who are not on breathing machines.
