Ice and calm: simple methods tested to ease painful needle sticks in hospital
NCT ID NCT06661187
Summary
This study tested two simple methods to reduce pain and anxiety when critically ill patients need an arterial blood draw. Researchers applied a bag of crushed ice to the puncture site for three minutes and used psychological techniques like music and breathing exercises. The goal was to see if these easy, non-drug methods could make a common but painful hospital procedure more comfortable for patients.
