Nerve blocks vs. pain pills: the race to ease appendicitis agony

NCT ID NCT06808087

Summary

This study tested two different nerve-blocking injections against standard pain medication to see which works best for relieving the severe pain of appendicitis while patients wait for emergency surgery. Researchers compared the Transversus Abdominis Plane (TAP) block, the Erector Spinae Plane (ESPB) block, and an intravenous painkiller (tramadol) in 96 adult patients. The goal was to find the most effective way to control pain quickly in the busy emergency department setting.
