Spinal injection vs nerve block: which eases lung surgery pain better?
NCT ID NCT07126483
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 70 adults having video-assisted lung surgery to see which pain relief method works better: a numbing injection near the spine (thoracic paravertebral block) or a small dose of morphine into the spinal fluid (intrathecal morphine). The goal was to find out if one method reduces the need for extra pain medicine in the first 24 hours after surgery. Participants received one of the two treatments before surgery and were monitored for pain, medicine use, and side effects for up to 30 days.
