Summary
This study tested whether adding either dexmedetomidine or ketamine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) could provide longer pain relief after hernia repair. Sixty adults having surgery on one side of the groin received one of three injections into the abdominal wall muscles. Researchers measured pain scores and blood pressure over 12 hours after surgery to see which combination worked best.
