Hernia surgery pain relief breakthrough: cheap spray beats standard care
NCT ID NCT07208253
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether spraying a mix of dexamethasone and bupivacaine onto the surgical mesh during laparoscopic hernia repair can lower pain. 175 adults having elective hernia surgery were randomly assigned to receive the spray or no local treatment. Those who got the spray reported less pain, needed fewer extra painkillers, and were more satisfied with their recovery. The approach appears safe, simple, and low-cost.
