Summary
This study tested whether adding dexmedetomidine or ketamine to a standard numbing medicine (bupivacaine) can provide longer pain relief after hernia surgery. Sixty adults having one-sided hernia repair received one of three injections into their abdominal wall. Researchers measured pain levels at rest and when coughing over 12 hours after surgery. The goal was to find which additive works best to keep patients comfortable longer.
