New pain relief method could cut opioid use after heart surgery
NCT ID NCT02851394
Summary
This study tested a method to better manage pain after open-heart surgery. Researchers gave 160 patients a local anesthetic mix through a small tube placed near the surgical wound. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers like morphine and lessen their side effects.
