First seen Feb 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding a painkiller called tramadol to a local anesthetic delivered through a small tube near the surgical cut can improve pain control after heart surgery through the breastbone. The goal was to reduce the need for morphine and its side effects. About 160 adults having heart surgery took part. The approach aims to make recovery more comfortable.
