New combo pain relief could speed recovery after colon cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT07414706

Summary

This study is testing if adding an intravenous (IV) numbing medicine (lidocaine) during surgery, on top of the standard numbing shots at the incision sites (ropivacaine), helps patients recover better after laparoscopic colon cancer surgery. Researchers will compare recovery quality, pain levels, and painkiller use between two groups: one getting the new IV-plus-shots combo and one getting only the standard shots. The goal is to see if this approach leads to less pain, a smoother recovery, and a shorter hospital stay.
