New study aims to cut opioid use after chest surgery with targeted nerve blocks

Summary
This study compares two types of nerve blocks (erector spinae plane block vs. thoracic paravertebral block) to control pain after chest surgery. The goal is to reduce the need for morphine and improve recovery. 86 adults undergoing chest surgery will be randomly assigned to one of the two blocks, and their pain levels and morphine use will be tracked for 24 hours after surgery.
