First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at whether placing a small tube (catheter) near the back muscles to deliver numbing medicine can improve pain and breathing in people with broken ribs from chest trauma. About 40 adults with rib fractures and poor lung function will be randomly assigned to get either standard painkillers alone or standard painkillers plus the nerve block. The main goal is to see if the nerve block helps increase lung capacity within 24 hours.
