Nerve block trial aims to tame agony of appendicitis before surgery

NCT ID NCT06808737

Summary

This study tested whether a targeted nerve injection, called a TAP block, could better control the severe pain of appendicitis for patients waiting for emergency surgery. Researchers compared the injection to standard pain medications in 105 adults in the emergency department. The goal was to see if this approach could reduce pain and the need for strong opioid drugs before and after the operation.
