New nerve block could ease agony after major lung surgery

NCT ID NCT07335250

Summary

This study is testing whether a specific nerve block, given right after surgery, can better control pain and reduce the need for strong opioid painkillers in patients recovering from major chest surgery to remove part of a lung. It will compare the pain-blocking injection to a placebo (saltwater) injection in 66 patients. The goal is to see if this method safely improves pain relief and helps patients use fewer opioids after their operation.
