Nerve block tested to ease pain after keyhole heart surgery

NCT ID NCT05648266

Summary

This study tested whether a specific nerve block could help manage pain after a type of minimally invasive heart valve repair surgery. It involved 78 patients who were randomly assigned to receive either the active pain-blocking infusion or a placebo. The main goals were to see if the block reduced patients' pain scores and their need for opioid painkillers during their hospital stay.
