New study seeks to uncover why some people develop severe lung disease while others stay healthy
NCT ID NCT05584722
First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study aims to understand why some people develop pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a serious lung condition, while others with genetic risk factors do not. Researchers will follow 150 participants, including patients with PAH, healthy people with a BMPR2 gene mutation, and healthy controls, for up to 32 months. They will track quality of life, exercise ability, heart and lung function, and daily activity to create molecular profiles of susceptibility and resilience.
