New study seeks clues to who gets PAH and who stays healthy

NCT ID NCT05584722

First seen Mar 19, 2026 · Last updated Jun 20, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study follows 150 people, including those with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), healthy carriers of a PAH-related gene mutation, and healthy controls. Researchers will track changes in quality of life, exercise ability, heart and lung function, and daily activity over up to 32 months. The goal is to uncover molecular signatures that explain why some people develop PAH while others remain healthy, potentially pointing to new treatment targets.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could identify new targets for future treatments and help predict who is at risk for PAH.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly benefit participants and may not lead to new therapies.
