Ozone gas tested to supercharge gum disease treatment

NCT ID NCT07202312

Summary

This study tested whether adding ozone gas therapy improves the standard non-surgical cleaning treatment for severe gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers worked with 39 adults who had severe gum disease to see if the ozone treatment killed more harmful bacteria and led to better gum health than cleaning alone. The goal was to see if this combination could provide a more thorough disinfection of deep gum pockets.
