Study halted early: testing oxygen levels for COPD breathing crises

NCT ID NCT04223050

Summary

This study aimed to find the safest amount of oxygen to give hospitalized patients experiencing a sudden worsening of COPD symptoms (called an exacerbation). Researchers compared giving enough oxygen to keep blood oxygen levels above 94% versus a lower target range of 88-92%. The main goal was to see which approach better prevented death within 30 days and other serious complications.
