New oxygen technique tested to make difficult intubations safer

NCT ID NCT07384494

Summary

This study tests whether a high-flow nasal oxygen system is better than standard low-flow oxygen at preventing dangerously low oxygen levels during awake intubation. It involves 336 adult patients with difficult airways who need to be intubated while conscious. Researchers will compare how often low oxygen events occur and measure intubation success rates and safety between the two oxygen delivery methods.
