Breathing new life into stubborn wounds: oxygen therapy trial offers hope

NCT ID NCT06754735

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a special topical oxygen therapy to standard compression bandages helps heal chronic leg ulcers faster and more completely. About 212 adults with a leg ulcer that hasn't healed well with standard care will use either the real oxygen device or a look-alike 'sham' device at home for up to 16 weeks. Researchers will track how many wounds fully close, how quickly they heal, and if the treatment reduces pain and improves quality of life.
