Can oxygen chambers save lives from Flesh-Eating bacteria?
NCT ID NCT07170020
Summary
This study aims to find out if adding hyperbaric oxygen therapy—breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber—helps people with severe 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections. Researchers will compare outcomes for 160 adults receiving this oxygen treatment plus standard care (surgery and antibiotics) against those receiving standard care alone. A key question is whether getting to surgery very quickly makes the extra oxygen treatment unnecessary.
