High-Pressure oxygen tested in fight against deadly Flesh-Eating bacteria

NCT ID NCT07170020

Summary

This study aims to see if adding hyperbaric (high-pressure) oxygen therapy to standard surgical and antibiotic care helps people with severe 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections. Researchers will compare death and complication rates in 160 adults receiving the oxygen treatment against historical data from patients who did not. They also want to learn if very fast surgery makes the extra oxygen treatment unnecessary.
