New oxygen monitor may prevent overdosing oxygen during surgery
NCT ID NCT07404267
First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a special monitor called the Oxygen Reserve Index (ORi) can help doctors give just the right amount of oxygen to patients having surgery while sitting up (beach chair position). Too much oxygen can be harmful, but standard monitors don't always catch it. About 80 adults will be randomly assigned to get oxygen guided by the new monitor or by standard methods, and the researchers will check blood samples to see who has better oxygen levels.
