New balloon could reduce repeat surgeries for blocked windpipes

NCT ID NCT07191860

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tests a special balloon coated with a drug (paclitaxel) to treat benign (non-cancer) narrowing of the windpipe or main breathing tubes. About 200 adults will be randomly assigned to get either the drug-coated balloon or the standard balloon dilation. The goal is to see if the drug-coated balloon keeps the airway open longer, reducing the need for repeat procedures.
