New monitor aims to give doctors extra warning before oxygen drops in surgery

NCT ID NCT07326293

Summary

This study is testing if a special monitor called the Oxygen Reserve Index (ORI) can give doctors an earlier warning when an older patient's oxygen levels start to drop during cancer surgery. Researchers will observe 44 patients aged 65 and older to see if the ORI alarm goes off sooner than the standard oxygen monitor. The goal is to gather information to help make anesthesia safer for elderly patients.
