Breathing easier after surgery: can less oxygen help?

NCT ID NCT06013098

Summary

This study looked at whether using a lower concentration of oxygen during and after major esophageal cancer surgery could help prevent a common lung complication called atelectasis (lung collapse). Researchers compared two different oxygen levels in 65 patients undergoing this specific surgery to see which was better at protecting the lungs. The goal was to find the safest breathing support strategy to help patients recover with fewer breathing problems.
