Breathing easier after surgery: finding the right oxygen mix

NCT ID NCT06359106

Summary

This study aims to determine whether using lower or higher oxygen levels during surgery helps protect lung function in older adults undergoing gastrointestinal procedures. Researchers will compare two approaches—40% oxygen versus 80% oxygen—in 1,176 patients aged 65+ across multiple hospitals in China. The main goal is to see which approach leads to better breathing outcomes and fewer lung complications after surgery.
