Could frozen ovarian tissue help cancer patients have kids?

NCT ID NCT01558544

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study aims to improve methods for freezing and thawing ovarian tissue, and for maturing eggs in the lab, so that people at risk of early menopause—often due to cancer treatment—might still be able to have a genetically related child. Up to 300 females aged 0-45 who are premenopausal and facing treatments that could cause ovarian failure are eligible. The research focuses on developing these technologies rather than providing a direct treatment.
