Could a custom tumor map guide better ovarian cancer care?
NCT ID NCT06466382
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This Swiss study is testing whether creating a detailed molecular profile of each patient's tumor can help doctors choose more effective treatments for advanced ovarian cancer. Sixty newly diagnosed patients will be randomly assigned to either standard care or a personalized treatment plan recommended by a molecular tumor board. The goal is to see if this tailored approach leads to better tumor response and helps doctors feel more confident in their treatment decisions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- molecular tumor board recommendation based on tumor profiling
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could show that personalized treatment plans based on detailed tumor analysis improve outcomes for ovarian cancer patients who don't respond to standard therapy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small pilot study (60 participants) focused on feasibility and early signals, not a large-scale test of effectiveness. The approach may not lead to better survival or quality of life.
